#2 by Brad Heller on December 20th, 2007
Holy crap, can’t wait!
#3 by Tech Roach on December 20th, 2007
Come on !!! Give it up with this brown and orange shades. And that brown looks like shit-brown. Awfully screwed !!
#4 by tim on December 20th, 2007
Well, I would, but Gnome is too slow, and Compiz isn’t usable due to the black-windows-bug on nVidia.
#5 by maYO on December 20th, 2007
#6 by wanker on December 20th, 2007
No more monkey colours please!
Get real!
#7 by rhY on December 20th, 2007
Ubuntu is never going to fully catch on till they ditch the brown. Love of god lose the brown!!
#8 by asdasd on December 20th, 2007
sorry but that looks horrible
#9 by parda on December 20th, 2007
Hey… that’s look geil, i should say! It’s true that the brown is always a little bit strange color for one OS, but these mockups are really nice! And i really like the white line around windows in the second screenshot..
So, keep doing well!
#10 by James on December 20th, 2007
Looks great! Keep up the good work
#11 by Gottlieb Schnick on December 20th, 2007
Ditch the brown! WHY THE PREOCCUPATION WITH THE ORANGE/BROWN THEMES???
#12 by Dave Taylor on December 20th, 2007
I consider this a really really gorgeous theme but I also think that it is too nice for Ubuntu. I mean when did they ever accept a nice theme (Kubuntu included) they’ll just reject it and then have some one eat leaves and sticks leave it to be digested a little, then vomit it on the floor, take a picture and then use that as the new uber sleek backdrop (of course Mark will comment on the neuvo art style on his blog and they’ll win the Turner art prize).
#13 by God on December 20th, 2007
There’s nothing wrong with the Human theme…. way better than Nazi Blue. And if you don’t like the colors, it’s easier than hell to change. (aww, you have to click more than once.Poor you)
#14 by Manfred on December 20th, 2007
Damn, this is really nice, I hope the Ubuntu team adopts it. It’s warm and human, something we badly needs to replace the olding theme. We need something fresh like this
#15 by Sfacets on December 20th, 2007
Looks like no one likes the brown. Time to change?
#16 by Jimi Junk on December 20th, 2007
I liked brown during the fall in Michigan (USA). Then I stopped liking it. Recently we painted a room a dark tan, and I rediscovered brown It is a very warm, comfortable color. So, apparently it’s the anal brown haters who only see excrement when they see brown vs. the realists who have learned that all browns are not necessarily bad, and some are downright homey!!!
#17 by Kim on December 20th, 2007
Ugh.. can’t say I like those colors.
#18 by Michael on December 20th, 2007
So, honestly, how hard is it to go into the preferences and adjust the theme? If you don’t like brown, shut the hell up and make your own theme. Just downgrade down to Vista if your going to complain that much about aesthetics.
#19 by Zach on December 20th, 2007
yuck. down with brown!
#20 by Diddi on December 20th, 2007
#21 by timonator on December 20th, 2007
I personally prefer the first theme, but in both themes the contrast between the icons and the panels are not strong enough!
#22 by Steven on December 20th, 2007
Hire a professional to design the desktop. Nothing like making a great system and putting a crappy interface on the front of it!
#23 by Adam on December 20th, 2007
wow, just one or two more revisions and it will look just like Leopard!
#24 by Rudd-O on December 20th, 2007
The theme is gorgeous. The colors are a matter of debate, but since the colors don’t necessarily need to go with the theme (you can change them in the control center), just go with the current palette then you can use a color wheel or something to find the equivalents in different hues, and period.
#25 by Swordfish on December 20th, 2007
Ya i’m sorry but the brown , you need to ditch it it’s like shit brown. Come on get real go for a blue or a green even just lose the brown it’s not a prity color. The only people who can get brown to work for them is pownce.com.
#26 by andy roooo on December 20th, 2007
i agree that the brown is ugly, but the whole point of ubuntu is that it is completely customizable, so really if the brown bothers you please change it. its easy, and if you can get over the brown, its probably the best os.
#27 by slyon on December 20th, 2007

Don’t get the menu’s completely, does that “Inactive window with toolbar” have two menu’s? Or does that toolbar just looks like a menu?
#29 by maxp on December 20th, 2007
seriously, give up the brown. Its way too ugly.
#30 by julien on December 20th, 2007
I love the orange/brown colour mix. It’s the Ubuntu identity. I really think that these colours are the reason for the popularity of Ubuntu.
#31 by Josh on December 20th, 2007
Please tell me this is some sort of sick joke. I will stop using Ubuntu on my home PC if I have to look at that bullllllshit. (Or I will at least change the theme immediately.) Come on guys… Do something that will appeal to more than 2% people for once. This whole thing is nice for the Ubuntu community pride, but it makes us look like a laughing stock to everyone else. I want my desktop to look visually appealing, not like someone pulled their pants down and shit on it…
#32 by Crendon on December 20th, 2007
Na se ve horrible, demasiado oscuro!!!
#33 by Johnny Wrallie on December 20th, 2007
Sehr shön!
#34 by pacsum on December 20th, 2007
The colors are based on the “ubuntu philosophy”, they won’t change it and I agree with them.
If you don’t like it, do what I do: just download another theme and use, it’s that simple.
Please stop b#tching.
#35 by stiph on December 21st, 2007
your wallpaper is awesome, can you tell where you got it from?
#36 by slyon on December 21st, 2007
follow the links under the screenshots
#37 by fdsfds on December 22nd, 2007
translucent brown? haha fucking hell how horrible
#38 by sharedu on December 23rd, 2007
I can wait for the new gnome.
#39 by Rafael on December 23rd, 2007
WOW man! This is da real shit!!! I totally love it! Although i’m not a big fan of the default brown color this one looks really nice! I’d use it for over a week or so
Keep up the good work! Thumbs up!
Thanks
#40 by fadumpt on December 26th, 2007
that color scheme is seriously awesome….like the orange crap was okay…but this is great….and I love how the top menus flow together….can’t wait for the release!
quit hatin on the brown….it’s so easily changeable you’d have to be a moron to simply sit there and stare at it saying “damn I hate this color”
#41 by fya on December 26th, 2007
Ditch brown and the top panel.
Linux Mint is the same Ubuntu with minor visual changes, but it makes such a massive difference!
This is just too ugly to look at.
#42 by Coffee Brown on January 2nd, 2008
Nice work
I loved the Ubuntu brown/gold/black theme and this is even nicer. Brown is a terrific idea for Ubuntu, African name and colors that are reminiscent of that continent.
There are dozens of uninspired OS Themes out there Ubuntu has never been boring.
#43 by x2495491 on January 7th, 2008
themes ubunto 7.10
#44 by Lusepuster on January 14th, 2008
However much I like the brown/Orange color scheme (thought it is really hard to get ‘just right’), once again it should be stressed that these mockups are *just suggestions from users*, not any official Ubuntu theme mockup.
#45 by Rodrigo Gregório on February 2nd, 2008
resumindo: very nice | muito bom .
#46 by coola on June 30th, 2008
What is with so many half wits in here calling brown shit? don’t you know chocolate is brown too? what do you want? Xp sick blue and green? GOOD GRIEF MAN YOU CAN CHANGE THE COLOURS OF THE OS GOD FORBID EVEN XP CAN BE CUSTOMIZED, STOP THE BROWN SHIT ARGUMENT YOU SET OF BABOONS!!!
